We have moved the site of the Museum from the old Jefferson School on the South side of Washington. The estimate for bringing Jefferson School up to standards for use as a museum was nearly $1,000,000, which is well beyond our budget. The Masonic Temple, our new home, is three and a half floors and includes several very large rooms, including a full banquet facility with kitchen, which we hope to rent out and use for our own events. There is a large parking lot in back for our patrons. The biggest challenge will be making the various floors accessible. The existing stairways are long and steep. In the fall of 2007, we began the project of installing an elevator and accessible restrooms. We expect the project to be completed in January of 2008. The Masonic Temple is located at 210-212 East Main St. For the latest, see Director's Notes. This is the south face and main entrance of the D.C. Museum on East Main St. Tracy Williams of What's Your Sign has completed the sign for the front of the building. Mr. Williams also donated a sign for the glass above the entry door and a sign for the back parking lot. What's Your Sign is on West Main St. across the street and west of the White Steamer Restaurant.
